  • Mechanism of Action: Brimonidine is an α-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that primarily constricts the venules which reduces redness while maintaining oxygen availability to surrounding tissues.
  • Dosage:  One drop in the affected eye(s) every 6-8 hours, not to exceed more than 4 times daily.

Lumify (brimonidine tartrate ophthalmic solution 0.025%) is the first and only over-the-counter eye drop developed with low-dose brimonidine tartrate for the treatment of ocular redness due to minor eye irritations. In clinical studies including over 600 patients no tachyphylaxis and virtually no rebound redness was reported.
